I’ve been hearing that a lot over the last couple of weeks. This morning, July 15th, I began a 6 week raw vegan trek. For the next 6 weeks, I will eat no dairy, no meat and nothing cooked over 118 degrees. Sounds a little extreme, but in truth it’s not that uncommon. A friend of Absolute Health Chiropractic’s, Elizabeth Fraiser, is a Raw Foodist and teaches classes as well as full programs for those interested in trying Raw Food. Check her out at www.girlgoneraw.com. The program that I’m doing is 6 weeks long, with daily emails, weekly calls, 2 private 1.5 hour cooking classes, some tools I’ll need, a massage and all of my daily menus and recipes.
Over the next 6 weeks, I will be doing a blog every couple of days or so to update you on the progress and trials and tribulations of the trek. I’ll cover the reasons why someone, or me for that matter, would want to do this; what the research is that supports this trend; food I’m preparing; cost of the food and other questions that may arise along the way.
Feel free to leave comments or questions and I’ll be sure to respond. This isn’t for everyone, but anyone who knows me well, knows that I’m a fan of cleanses and other food challenges. Prior to this, the longest cleanse that I had done was 21 days, so this is going to be challenging and rewarding at the same time. Off to drink my big green smoothie 🙂
